EMI / RFI
Shielding Cloth |
| |
Woven Wire Cloth is the material of
choice, utilized in applications requiring shielding of electromagnetic interference (EMI)
and radio frequency interference (RFI). |
The reduction or exclusion of
Electro-magnetic interference and/or radio frequency interference is dependent upon the
signal amplitude and frequency in relation to the many combinations of mesh count, wire
diameter and weaving materials available. |
The most popular materials for
EMI/RFI shielding and ground plane applications include
pure copper, nickel plated copper,
silver plated copper, brass, nickel plated low carbon steel, stainless steel and nickel
plated stainless steel. |

RFI Shielding |
Effective shielding is perhaps the single most
important measure in preventing or eliminating any RFI problem. However, unwanted rf
energy must be dissipated. The task becomes harder to perform when the spacing
between the source of energy and the boundaries of the shield diminish.
Consequently, the use of a double shield is one way reducing residual radiation from the
primary shielding surface. |
In order to obtain maximum effectiveness of a
particular shielding application, no breaks or points of entry should be permitted.
The small holes (apertures) in woven wire shielding
cloth do not degrade shielding effectiveness. |
